Different marriages in pride and prejudice
Abstract
This paper aims at describing different marriages in pride and prejudice, and the source depends on the character and the object of life. The plot of Pride and Prejudice revolves around a series of misunderstandings between Darcy, an unconsciously arrogant and enormously wealthy upper-class young man and Elizabeth, a lively young middle-class woman with a satirical temperament. Darcy and Elizabeth’s marriage shows the power of love and happiness to overcome class boundaries and prejudices. Bingley and Jane both are cheerful, friendly, and good-natured, their simple character and attitudes towards love lead to their quiet romance. But the other two combination is more realistic. Charlotte marries the buffoon Mr.Collins for his money, to demonstrate that the heart does not always dictate marriage. Wickhame and Lydia go to pursuit sexual satisfaction in the marriage, and demonstrate the aim behind the marriage.
